Triana & John’s Enchanting Comrie Croft Wedding: A Tale of Love, Laughter, and the Scottish Highlands

Triana & John’s Enchanting Comrie Croft Wedding: A Tale of Love, Laughter, and the Scottish Highlands

Comrie Croft is one of those venues that doesn’t need much dressing up. Tucked into the hills of Perthshire, it’s all wild grass, woodland paths, and wide-open skies — the kind of place that feels calm as soon as you arrive. For Triana and John, who brought a relaxed, homemade approach to their day, it was the perfect setting.

Everything about this wedding was intentionally done and completely theirs. Comrie Croft is a DIY venue, and they leaned right into that freedom. From the decor to the way the day flowed, it all felt personal without ever feeling forced.

John got ready with his groomsmen in one of the converted barns — a bright, simple space that suited the laid-back atmosphere of the morning. Kilts, good chat, and just the right amount of nerves.

Triana got ready across the way in a little cottage tucked into the courtyard. It had this really lovely, quiet energy. One of the most memorable parts of the morning was when she saw her dad for the first time. Neither of them said much, but the emotion hit hard — you could feel how much that moment meant.

The ceremony took place inside the barn, but with all the greenery and dried foliage hanging from the ceiling, it felt like stepping into a little woodland hideaway. The space was warm and intimate, filled with soft light and natural textures. Triana and John stood surrounded by family and friends, framed by earthy tones and thoughtful styling that brought the outdoors in.

A bagpiper played beforehand, a subtle nod to the setting without turning the moment into a spectacle. The ceremony itself was simple and honest — no frills, just a genuine connection between two people who clearly mean everything to each other.

What stood out throughout the day was how involved Triana and John had been in creating everything. The signage, the table settings, the overall flow — it was all shaped by their hands or their ideas. Nothing flashy, just thoughtful and genuine. They made Comrie Croft feel like their own space for the day.

The reception was held in the barn — warm light, long tables, and plenty of candles. Dinner was a hog roast, and it suited the vibe perfectly: hearty, unfussy, and shared together.

Speeches were a highlight. John's in particular was something else — basically a full-on stand-up routine. He had everyone laughing, and it set the tone for the rest of the night: joyful, relaxed, and full of connection.

After dinner, the party kicked off with a ceilidh — classic Scottish music, everyone up on their feet, spinning around and throwing themselves into it. There was a great energy in the room, and that carried on into the night.

As the sun dipped behind the hills, guests moved between the barn, the courtyard, and the fire pits — drinks in hand, a few blankets wrapped around shoulders, and lots of chat late into the evening.

Triana and John's wedding at Comrie Croft was the kind of day that reminds you what it’s all about. No gimmicks, no fluff — just two people doing things their way, surrounded by the people they love, in a place that felt right.

If you’re planning a wedding at Comrie Croft and want photography or videography that captures the atmosphere and emotion of the day without making it feel like a styled shoot — I’d love to be there.
